Description
Description
The unique Black Chili tyre compound was developed in Germany using the latest polymers, soot particles and filler materials to create unique performance features. A Vectran breaker was then added, which is lighter, more flexible and more effective against cuts without affecting rolling resistance. And so the Continental Grand Prix 5000 Allseason tyre performs better than ever before.
Technology
Vectran breaker layerVectran is manufactured from a liquid-crystalline polymer, creating a thermoplastic, multi-strand thread. By comparison, this partial crystalline polymer is more cut-resistant than aramid, and its tensile strength is five times that of steel. A Vectran breaker is lighter and more flexible and provides more effective protection against cuts than a nylon breaker layer. Without compromising on rolling resistance.
Active Comfort
A revolutionary approach in cycling. Embedded in the tyre construction, the Active Comfort technology absorbs vibrations and makes your ride much smoother.
Lazer Grip
Lazer Grip technology is aimed at making you one with the road. The lasered micro-profile structure expands over the tyre’s shoulder and ensures outstanding cornering grip.

Good buy for any cyclist who wants to ride well
Bought this tyre as I ride throughout the season. The chance of getting a puncture in the rain is a lot less. Definitely worth investing in this.
Pros & Cons

Very good tyre. Comfortable and durable
Chosen these tyres because of participation in the Strade Bianche grandfondo. Used them tubeless and with low tyre pressure this gives super comfort. Had no problems during the granfondo and the tyres still look good (+/- 1500 km ridden with them so far).

Mis-selling
I have a set of these tyres, one of which punctured after 500km and another after 1000km. I ride with inner tubes and when removing the tyres, I noticed that there was already a lot of water between the outer and inner tubes. In one tyre at least, the leak was caused by a tiny piece of split that cut/punctured through the so-called anti-puncture layer or vectran breaker. Both outer tyres on the inside but taped for waterproofing now, as they are expensive tyres and the tread is still as good as new. In terms of warranty, Mantel didn't give a home. Risk user it is and the terms anti-puncture etc say nothing then. Previously had the regular Conti 4000 and the Grand Prix All Seasons and both were a lot more solid. Drove 10000km with those without any problems or punctures. This tyre is a mis-buy. Unfortunately, I am only now seeing a lot of negative reviews about this tyre and they seem very justified to me.
